Polyaigos and Kimolos by Boat from Milos: Which Trip to Choose
Updated October 22, 2026 · 5 min read
The short answer. For most visitors the full-day sailboat tour of Milos and Polyaigos with lunch is the one to book: €125, ten hours, rated 4.9 from 2,156 reviews, which makes it the most-reviewed trip on the island. If Kimolos is what you want, look at the small morning cruises from Pollonia instead, or take the local ferry. If you only have half a day, the Pollonia morning cruise is the shorter option.
Polyaigos lies south-east of Milos and Kimolos, and it is the largest uninhabited island in the Cyclades. Its name means “many goats”. It is protected as a Natura 2000 area, and in September 2025 the Greek authorities approved declaring the whole island an archaeological site. Its sea caves are described as a refuge for the Mediterranean monk seal, but no trip can promise you will see one.
Two ways to see it
The trips fall into two groups, and they are not interchangeable.

The full-day trips from Adamas
The sailboat tour circles much of Milos before it reaches Polyaigos. The listing names a pass by Sarakiniko and the Glaronisia islets, a swim at Polyaigos, a look at the old sulphur mine area at Thiorichia, a swim at Gerakas, lunch at Kleftiko with a swim, then Sykia Cave and Cape Vani, and a return to Adamas around 7:00 p.m. Lunch is pasta with tuna sauce and salad, vegetarian options on request, with water, soft drinks and white wine. It runs with three sailboats of up to 25 people each.
That is a long day with a lot of coastline, and the Polyaigos stop is one swim among several. If Polyaigos is the main point for you, the listing does not make it the main stop. Our comparison of sailing boat or catamaran trips to Kleftiko covers the trips built around Kleftiko.
Check the exclusions: the operator’s booking page says the trip is not suitable for children under 3 or wheelchair users. The route may be changed by the captain depending on the weather. And if you leave Milos by ferry the same evening, note that it is not suitable for ferries that depart before 8:30 p.m.
The two catamaran cruises cost €210 and €215. The dearer one is sold as all-inclusive with an open bar; neither listing makes Polyaigos the main stop, so compare the inclusions on the booking pages before paying the difference.
The small-boat option from Pollonia
Pollonia is on the north-eastern tip of Milos, and it is also where the local ferry to Kimolos leaves. Both Pollonia trips include Kimolos and Polyaigos in their routes.
The shared morning cruise leaves at 9:00 a.m. with up to 10 guests, takes about five hours and has three swim stops. It includes snorkelling gear, water, beer and traditional Milos pies, plus a shaded canopy and a toilet on board. Its 4.6 rating is lower than the others and the review base is small, at 52.
The fishing trip leaves at 10:00 a.m. with up to 11 guests and lasts seven hours. You watch the captain work the traditional nets, can fish with a rod yourself, and eat the catch for lunch. The route depends on the weather. It is the more distinctive trip, with five stars from 31 reviews, but a fishing day is not purely a swimming day: choose it for the fishing.
A third option, the small-group open yacht listed in the Kleftiko comparison, advertises Milos, Kimolos and Poliegos, but the stops listed for its three routes do not name Kimolos or Polyaigos. Which route runs depends on the wind on the day; ask beforehand if one of those islands matters to you.
Kimolos on its own
You do not need a boat tour to see Kimolos. A local ferry links Pollonia and Psathi, the port of Kimolos. Crossings are reported at 20 to 25 minutes, with seven or more departures a day in summer and around twelve at the peak, and fewer on Sundays. Check the current timetable before you plan a return the same day. From Psathi, the port and Chorio are manageable without a car, according to travel guides.
What to expect and what not to
The listings describe swimming and snorkelling at Polyaigos, not walks ashore. Treat it as a place to see from the water. Operators change routes when the wind shifts; see the wind notes in our sailing or catamaran guide. Book early in your stay so you have a spare day.
