Sunset Cruise from Adamas on Milos: Which Trip, and What to Check

Updated October 22, 2026 · 5 min read

Orange sunset over calm sea seen from the deck of a boat, with a rocky headland on the right and islands on the horizon

The short answer. If you want a boat trip that ends in a sunset, book the sunset catamaran cruise with a Kleftiko visit: €145, 5.5 hours, boarding at Adamas at 3:00 p.m., rated 4.8 from 89 reviews. It is the cheaper of the two catamarans and the only trip here that runs only at sunset. Its catch is the age limit: the booking page says it is not suitable for children under 14.

The sunset trips compared here are not a separate evening excursion. They are afternoon trips that include a swim stop at Kleftiko, a meal and a slow sail home along the coast, with the sunset at the end. You are paying for a half-day on the water, not for an hour of golden light.

There are nine sunset cruises in total, starting at €115. These three are the ones compared here.

The dedicated sunset catamaran

You board at the port of Adamas at 3:00 p.m. The listing sends you first to Kleftiko for swimming and snorkelling, with lunch on board, then along the west coast past Sykia Cave and Cape Vani, with a stop at Kalogries Bay. The end of the trip is a sail past the fishing villages of Skinopi, Klima, Areti and Fourkovouni, whose painted boathouses are the backdrop as the sun goes down. Drinks, including alcoholic ones, and snorkelling gear are included; hotel transfers are not.

The restrictions matter: the operator’s booking page lists children under 14, pregnant women and wheelchair users as not suitable. It is also an English-language trip.

The catamaran with a choice

The luxury catamaran offers a morning or a sunset departure on the same route, with a stop of about an hour and a half at Kleftiko. Included are lunch, unlimited drinks (water, soft drinks, local beer and white wine), snorkelling gear, paddleboards, sunbeds, a toilet on board and an outdoor shower. Children’s meals can be arranged on request. Check-in is at Adamas port 15 minutes before departure, near the Athena Travel Services sign.

It costs €10 more than the dedicated trip and has more reviews, but note two things. First, the listing excludes pregnant women, people with pre-existing medical conditions and people over 95. Second, the sunset departure is one of two options, so choose it when you book and confirm the start time.

The small-group yacht

The open yacht advertises morning and sunset options, with chef-prepared food, an open bar and paddleboards. The captain picks one of three routes on the day, depending on the wind, and confirms the meeting point 48 hours before. The routes start at Agia Kyriaki or Pollonia, not Adamas, and not all of them go to Kleftiko. If the exact sunset and place matter to you, this is the least predictable choice, although it is also the cheapest.

Check the time of year

The sun sets much earlier in autumn than in midsummer. We calculated sunset for Milos in local summer time: around 8:20 p.m. in mid-May, 8:45 p.m. in late June, 8:15 p.m. in mid-August, 7:30 p.m. in mid-September and 6:45 p.m. in mid-October. A 5.5-hour trip leaving at 3:00 p.m. ends at 8:30 p.m., which suits May to August but will finish in the dark by autumn. Ask the operator what start time applies on your date, or pick the departure that matches the sunset in your month.

Wind and weather

The meltemi, the strong north wind, is most common in July and August. Operators change the route when it blows, and one catamaran listing notes that above force 5 on the Beaufort scale the cruise may end at Agia Kyriaki instead of Adamas. Read our guide to sailing boat or catamaran trips to Kleftiko for the wind details. Book early in your stay and keep a spare evening.

If you would rather stay on land

For sunset from the land, see our guide to Milos on land: a private-tour listing singles out Klima for its sunset. A jeep safari with sunset and hilltop views is another option, at €115 for four hours, rated 4.8 from 29 reviews.

Our pick for most travellers: the dedicated sunset catamaran, unless you are travelling with children under 14. In that case, look at the catamaran with a choice of departure. Check dates and prices for the sunset catamaran cruise.
